About  Warrington Shepherds
My name is John Shepherd and I started this site. A lot of the work has been done by my daughter Rachel and is included in her family tree OnceWereBrigantes on the ancestry.com site. Her tree includes my wife's family tree which makes the whole thing rather cumbersome in my opinion so I have hived off the Shepherd part.

Two important new resources have been located since I last updated this site. One is a record of All the Monumental Inscriptions in the Graveyards of Brigham and Bridekirk 1666 to 1876 which I obtained from an organisation called Parish Chest (www.parishchest.com). This has allowed me to tie up a number of loose ends in the Brigham roots of the family. It has also uncovered some new loose roots. There are other Shepherds in the Brigham graveyard who are probably part of the same family but so far I have been unable to establish the precise link. For this reason there is a disconnected tree on the site centred on the John Shepherd who was born in 1782.

The other is not really a new resource but the parish records of St Elphin's Warrington (always simply Parish Churcn to Warringtonians), have been made much more user friendly which has allowed me to tidy up the Warrington roots.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
